Fine fruit based beer. Very good in summer, and really any time. It used to be call Apricot Ale but in the last year or two they changed the name. Always a hit with anyone I've ever introduced it to.

If you're one of those people that thinks fruit doesn't belong in beer, this could be the exception to the rule. As the name states, Apricot Weizen ale is brewed with apricots. Not just a little bit, but a good amount of in-your-face apricot flavor. Pyramid brewery makes a damn fine wheat beer, and their Apricot Weizen is a variaton on a theme.

It has the smooth, creamy and refreshing characteristics common to most wheat beers, but on top of that rests the flavor of apricot unique to this brew.

There is a proper procedure to enjoying a glass of this beer. Being unfiltered, much of the yeast settles to the bottom of the bottle. Pour about 90% into your glass, then swirl around the remainder until you can't see any more yeast on the bottom. Now pour that into the glass and watch it become a different beer completely. What was mostly transparent and caramel in color with a weak head is now thick and cloudy with a beautiful creamy head and of course a healthy dose of great apricot flavor.
