NOT FOR THE MEEK! If you are not that familiar with stouts then you won't appreciate this beer (stratus19rt). If you know your stouts then you'll say Wow! at the first taste (Bufford). We're talking 'premium' here. Consider this a "special occasion" beer and not one that you'd drink every day given it's powerful flavors. You should be able to figure that out on your own given the price for a 4 pack. There's black licorice flavors with roasted chocolate undertones and pronounced carbonation. One of the few 'sipping' beers I've had...guzzle and be condemned forthwith!

Realizing it's a stout, I know the taste is probably appropriate for the beer, but I thought it tasted horrible. It left a nasty aftertaste in my mouth, and by the bottom third of the beer I was having to wash it down with water. Way too strong for casual drinking in my opinion.

Very strong, roasted flavor. I remember being surprised when I tried my first stout, because it wasn't as strongly flavored and thick as I expected something so black to be. This one tastes like that original expectation.

For me this was a bit too spicy -- I like my stouts smoother. Still, a solid choice. (Had from a bottle -- would try on tap)

Yikes! Now this is a manly beer, and a darn good one at that. It pours dark as night and has a nice tan head. A good roasted aroma with coffee and barley? Lots of taste for your tongue. I don't know how to describe it other than to say it's exactly as advertised, a good Russian Imperial Stout. Enjoy!
