When I feel like drinking a fizzy lifting drink or soft drink, this is my beer.

Abita makes a straight wheat Abita that is excellent, but much harder to find outside of Louisiana. Abita Purple Haze is a great alternative - it's basically the wheat Abita (always fun to say fast) but contains a small tinge of raspberry.

You'll swear it tastes lightly sweet going down, but it's important that you pay close attention to your taste buds. The raspberry usually balances bitter and sweet tones. But really it's more like a subtle perfume - smells sweet but tastes slightly bitter.

Like In-N-Out fries, a large part of the charm of Abita's Purple Haze is that it's a 'batchy' beer. It's usually quite good, sometimes iffy, and occassionally sublime. The 'quite good' batches will sustain you as you continually seek the next sublime batch.
