Abita Amber is terrific out of a keg, and almost as good out of the bottle. It's becoming easier to find, too.

Good beer. Me likes Turbodog better, tho.

Excellent stuff, though I'm definitely biased as my Uncle was a brewmaster there.

This is a quality beer, with a good flavor and a smooth finish. One of the better ambers made anywhere. Especially good from the tap, and sold on tap anywhere in the states surrounding Lousiana. Highly recommended.

Though I've never had it on tap (difficult to get "up north"), I think Abita Amber is spectacular from the bottle. There's a reason Abita has such a cult following -- they make GREAT beer!

New Orleans bar tenders will tell you it's easy to identify the tourists - the locals have a fierce love of Abita beers. People even sport t-shirts with the Abita label with pride.
When you get it from a tap, it's the perfect amber. The faintest hints of burnt moss and brown sugar, but very smooth and drinkable. Perfect with dinner. Perfectly refreshing on a hot, humid New Orleans day.
Do not judge Abita Amber when drinking it from a bottle. Although still good, it loses its balance, carbonation and charm. Like many beers it can pick up a hint of skunkiness in the bottle (think Heineken or Newcastle).
I've heard more than a few people instantly declare their new, favorite beer when drinking it from the tap at a nice restaurant in New Orleans. Withold ultimate judgment until you can try it out under similar circumstances. You won't regret it.
