I heard this beer isn't so good with pizza...Okay, I'm being a little mean. I'll tell you what this beer is good with, and it's CHOCOLATE! I had a premium dark chocolate bar with roasted almonds followed by this beer and I was in triple chocolate heaven. This is a dessert beer, as port is to wine. Smooth, creamy stout with subtle nuances of unsweetened dark chocolate, yet obvious chocolate malt. This beer is so harmonious, I feel as though I'm reviewing a fine Bordeaux. Perfectly balanced flavors with a mind blowing dry-mocha finish. This is serious dessert beer that stands up on its own as any good dessert should. (After the pizza of course)

Not so good with a pizza, maybe with a thick stew

This is like drinking an alcoholic chocolate milkshake. Delicious. This is the beer that made me like stouts.

My favorite dessert beer. It could be perhaps a bit lighter on the chocolate but it's very nearly perfect in its way as Guinness is in it's.

Rich and full bodied with a pronounced aftertaste. The chocolate overtones don't overpower the malt body initially and are expressed primarily in the finish.
Drink this beer expecting a stout, and allow the slight hints of chocolate to surprise you.

Simply the best beer I have ever had. If you like the dry Irish stouts (Guinness, Murphy's, Beamish), you likely enjoy Young's Double Chocolate. Of the three dry Irish stouts I listed, it's most like the Murphy's, in the sense that it's not as bitter as the Guinness and not as sweet as the Beamish. It's about as smooth as Murphy's is.
For those that haven't had the dry Irish stouts, Young's Double Chocolate is a heavy-bodied dark beer that is smooth, creamy, and slightly sweet. The chocolate flavor is light and can be described more as a "tone" than a distinct flavor. A very enjoyabe, approachable beer.

Think dessert... although the chocolate flavor is overly pronounced, it's definitely there and if you're fortunate enough to find this in a nitrogen widget can (or on tap), the creamy texture of the beer makes for a very rich drink. Make sure you have room!

In my mind, this is what "a chocoloate stout" should taste like. Nice and smooth with just enough of an after-effect to leave the drinker feeling pleasantly serene. Too many chocolate stouts overdo it on the flavoring, and it's just not nearly as good.

Real dark chocolate added to the brew gives this beer it's unique, but not overwhelming, chocolatey taste and distinct aftertaste (the best part). Be forewarned, however, that drinking this with a meal is a bad idea - it's plenty filling on it's own.
