For whatever reason I don't understand the hype surrounding this beer. In my opinion it's entirely over rated. The malt and hops seem out of balance for the style. There are plenty other Ambers that have better flavor.
I love their other beers and their green brewery though! Fat Tire is now being offered in CANS. Now THAT is cool.

Good beer, one of the best. Make sure it's served in a chilled mug, preferably with a bit of ice clinging to the inside of the mug. If you've got a Red Robin (restaurant) in the area, they do them right.
The only downside for me is the thickness which makes it difficult to drink a large quantity of these in one sitting. Every one you down just reminds you of that head crunch in the morning.

such a hit or miss beer. for some reason this beer can easily be fucked up with a bad tap.

I am ashamed to admit that I'm getting sick of Fat Tire. I mean, there's a reason everyone buys it - it is both flavorful and laid-back, a universal palate pleaser with just enough character to keep the beer snobs happy. Fat Tire has stood by me at party after bar-hop after party, never complaining after an ill-advised chicken wing or tasting too bitter when I'm secretly hankering for a girly blender drink.
I just feel like Fat Tire has nothing more to teach me. I've discovered its secrets, plumbed its depths, and every time I drink it, it's the same old experience.
God. I'm such a spoiled hipster. Shoot me now.

Solid beer from the folks at New Belgium. NB is the nation's first 100% wind-powered brewery - drink up and feel good.

When I go out west, I stock up and drink up. Wish I could buy this in GA. Smooth drinking amber ale with nice flavor. Had it on draft for the first time while on a layover in Denver a few years ago. Yummy!

Currently my favorite. A newcomer to the Chicago beer scene. Formerly only available west of the Mississippi, now available at least as far east as Chicago. Thanks. I agree with sillymcguilley, great laid back beer perfect for an relaxing evening.

A wonderful amber available most places west of the Mississippi. Very smooth, almost no bitterness, but full bodied and flavorful. Great with a burger and fries, a steak or on its own.
As an added bonus, the New Belgium Brewing Company is one of the most environmentally conscious microbreweries around, recently spending several million dollars to reduce their waste water and conserve as much energy as possible (more here: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2005/06/new_belgium_bre_1.php ). So pour a Fat Tire and feel good about it!

You can't find this brew in NYC to my knowledge, but when I was recently sent to California for business I discovered Fat Tire. It (and the fact that it was served to my in a 25 oz. stein) saved me from the hell that is Sunnyvale CA. Drinks easily and well. A damn fine beer overall.
